Dame Drag

When shopping for new cosmetics, not many girls would think ‘I wonder what I can purchase to make me look like a drag queen?’ It’s often quite the opposite effect we desire (unless you genuinely are a drag queen…then go right ahead.) This in mind then, I was horrified when M.A.C released a new collection that collaborated with the delightful Dame Edna. What the hell were they thinking? Of all the stars possible, Dame Edna is NOT someone I’d choose to emulate in the fashion/hair/beauty sense. Not even if you paid me, and it was Halloween.

Yes, the packaging does sports her/his (I get so confused, it’s a guy…right?!) signature red glasses and it’s all very spectacular and ‘showy-offy’, but all I’d need to do is Google Image ‘Dame Edna’ and I’d be put off buying anything from the range. I’m sure the products do look lovely on; it’s just the inspiration behind the collection that my narrow minded view cannot overcome. If the collection was entitled ‘Angeline Jolie’, then I’d buy the whole stock.
