FTV @ Divo Follow Up

In true Fashiontv style, the event held on Friday 20th February at Divo was overtly fashion orientated (yes, I am stating the obvious, but only as it is a good starting point…right?). Greeted by a sweeping red carpet and at least two burley cameras capturing our cheesy lip-gloss grins, my girls and I walked into the place automatically loving the atmosphere…feeling both privileged and welcomed, which is the best combination in my view. The crowd drawn by such a stylish event was an excitable mix, filling the scene with models, journalists, writers, Djs, celebrities and of course, designers.

I totally loved:

A) The decadence of Divo itself - chandeliers and drapes made the aura cosy but classic.

B) The tunes blaring from the D.J. set at the back…good vibrations all round I think.

C) The CLOTHES! The fashion shows were short and sweet, show casing garments that ranged from 19th century inspired cloaks, ruffled dresses that were backless and looked more like halter neck tops and darling white floor sweeping ensembles perfect for any formal function.

The designer that caught and held my attention, however, was Brett Russell. Not just because his styles were fresh and new, and not because he was professionally behaved all evening, but because he is only 14 YEARS OLD. Yes, he is just 14. Having been sketching designs since he was 6, Brett has won various awards including FDC Young Designer, “Jack Petchy” award and he was the winner of Fashion Diversity 2008 with his ‘Back to the Future’ collection (see www.brettrussell.co.uk)

All in all, it was a successful and surprisingly fun night out, although the one down side was of course the price of alcohol (as expected at such a prestigious venue). Luckily for me, however, two white wine spritzers are more than enough to keep me bubbly and bright!
